This show is about movies, but it’s really about conversation. We dig into films we love, films we argue about, and films that land differently depending on who’s watching. We compare opinions, challenge each other, and disagree without turning it into a fight. Liking different things doesn’t make anyone wrong, it just makes the conversation better. If you enjoy thoughtful debate, strong opinions, and the idea that fandom should bring people together instead of pushing them apart, you’re in the right place.

This week on Psyber Conversations, we take a quick detour from the MCU before diving into Avengers: Infinity War and kick off summer with a good old-fashioned movie debate.
Each host brings two picks to the table: one movie they love that everyone else seems to hate, and one movie they can’t stand that everybody else seems to love. The result is a chaotic mix of guilty pleasures, hot takes, questionable defenses, and several moments where friendship is tested by Rotten Tomatoes scores.
On the docket: 13 Ghosts, Encino Man, Jumper, Terminator: Dark Fate, The Last Airbender, Hook, Rocky Horror Picture Show, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Forrest Gump, The Fast and the Furious, and a few bonus side quests involving Dune, Star Wars, Tron, and whether some movies are better because of when we saw them, not necessarily because they’re “good.” The episode is built around the show’s core idea: defend your hill, take the jokes, and still agree to disagree.

The Psyber Conversations crew heads to Wakanda for a rewatch of Black Panther, one of the MCU’s most important and talked-about films.
This episode digs into Chadwick Boseman’s quiet strength as T’Challa, the introduction of Wakanda as a fully realized nation, the impact of Shuri, Okoye, Nakia, Ramonda, and the Dora Milaje, and why this movie feels so different from the Marvel films that came before it.
The group also debates whether Killmonger is one of the MCU’s best villains or an underdeveloped character with a stronger idea than execution, whether Andy Serkis’ Klaue was wasted, how the film handles legacy and leadership, and yes, the CGI rhinos get their moment.
From Afrofuturism and world-building to agency, tradition, social responsibility, and the movie’s place right before Infinity War, this is a wide-ranging conversation about a film that still gives fans plenty to discuss.

Thor: Ragnarok remains one of the most debated movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and in Part 2 of our discussion, the Psyber Conversations crew dives into the film's biggest strengths and weaknesses.
Did Taika Waititi's comedy-heavy approach breathe new life into Thor, or did it push the character too far from his mythological roots? We discuss the destruction of Mjolnir, Cate Blanchett's performance as Hela, Loki's evolving role in the MCU, Anthony Hopkins' final appearance as Odin, and the colorful chaos of Sakaar.
Along the way, we examine whether Hela was underdeveloped, why Jeff Goldblum's Grandmaster steals every scene he's in, and how Ragnarok helped set the stage for the Infinity Saga's grand finale.
Plus, an unexpected detour into Batman auditions, Willy Wonka, Flash Gordon, and the strange paths movie conversations can take.
Join us as we continue our journey through the MCU and ask the question: Did Thor: Ragnarok save the God of Thunder?
Psyber Conversations is the show where it's okay to agree to disagree.

Thor is back, the hammer is doomed, and the MCU is about to get a lot weirder.
In Part 1 of our Thor: Ragnarok conversation, we dive into the movie that completely changed the direction of Thor in the MCU. Was Taika Waititi’s comedy-heavy approach exactly what the character needed after Thor: The Dark World, or did Marvel push the jokes a little too far?
We talk about Chris Hemsworth leaning into comedy, the opening scene with Surtur, Odin’s final moments, Loki’s role in the story, Hela’s big entrance, Cate Blanchett’s performance, the destruction of Mjolnir, and the wild visual shift once Thor lands on Sakaar.
We also get into Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster, the movie’s strange retro sci-fi energy, and whether Ragnarok still works as a superhero movie when it’s having this much fun making fun of itself.
Plus, because this is Psyber Conversations, we somehow take a detour into an old Robin audition story from the Batman movie era. Naturally.
Was Thor: Ragnarok the movie that saved Thor, or the moment Marvel started turning him into a punchline? Let’s talk about it.

In Part 2 of the Psyber Conversations breakdown of Spider-Man: Homecoming, the gloves come off as the crew dives deeper into the movie’s biggest debates. Is Tom Holland’s Spider-Man a faithful adaptation of Peter Parker, or is this secretly “Iron Man 3.5”? The panel definitely has thoughts.
Josh, Bob, Darin, Matthew, and Heather unpack Michael Keaton’s standout performance as Adrian Toomes/Vulture, including the now-iconic car ride scene that instantly became one of the MCU’s most tense moments. The crew also debates whether Vulture is one of Marvel’s most relatable villains and why his grounded motivations worked so well.
This episode also swings into:
• The MCU’s version of “friendly neighborhood Spider-Man”
• Tony Stark’s influence on Peter Parker
• Whether the suit tech helped or hurt Spider-Man’s identity
• Hidden comic book references and villain cameos
• Why the smaller-scale stakes made this movie feel different from other MCU entries
• The final battle, Spider-Sense debate, and future setup for Brand New Day
Along the way, the conversation veers into Miles Morales teases, comic lore deep cuts, Scorpion theories, and a hilarious side quest involving whether Spider-Man could actually beat Captain America in a fight.
Some hosts love the movie. Some absolutely do not. But everybody agrees Michael Keaton crushed it.

The Psyber Conversations crew swings into the MCU’s first solo outing for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in Part 1 of our deep dive into Spider-Man: Homecoming. Was this the perfect modern take on Peter Parker, or did Marvel turn Spidey into “Iron Man Jr.”? Let the debate begin.
Josh, Bob, Darin, Matthew, and Heather break down the high school vibe, the MCU integration, Tony Stark’s mentor role, and why this version of Spider-Man sparked such divided reactions among fans. From Ned being the ultimate “guy in the chair” to debates over MJ, Flash Thompson, and whether the movie skipped too much classic Spider-Man lore, this episode goes full web-head mode.
The crew also dives into:
• Tom Holland vs. Tobey Maguire vs. Andrew Garfield
• Whether Spider-Man still feels like a “friendly neighborhood” hero
• The controversial tech-heavy Spider-Man suit
• MCU connections to Captain America: Civil War and The Incredible Hulk
• Why some fans love this movie and others absolutely do not
And yes, there’s a surprisingly deep discussion about bullying, Spider-Sense, awkward teachers, and why Peter Parker might need fewer AI upgrades and more web swinging.
Agree to disagree? Perfect. That’s exactly what Psyber Conversations is all about.

In Part 2 of our deep dive into Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, we go all in on the messy, emotional, and sometimes ridiculous core of this movie, family.
From Peter Quill finally meeting his celestial father (and realizing that might not be a great thing), to the complicated sibling rivalry between Gamora and Nebula, to Yondu proving what it really means to be a dad, this episode explores how Vol. 2 leans hard into relationships, trauma, and chosen family.
We also get into the big debate, did the humor go too far this time? The crew breaks down where the comedy lands, where it undercuts the emotion, and how it compares to the tight balance of the first film. Plus, we talk Baby Groot, Drax becoming… well, Drax, Ego as a villain, and why this movie might be one of the MCU’s most visually bold entries.
And of course, we couldn’t talk Guardians without diving into that soundtrack. From “Mr. Blue Sky” to “The Chain,” we discuss how the music continues to act as a character of its own.
Huge shoutout to our special guest Ben from CinemaGulp on YouTube, who joins us for this episode. Be sure to check out CinemaGulp and their content, seriously, go watch it.
Whether you think this is a step up, a step down, or just a different vibe from Vol. 1, this is a fun, honest conversation about one of the MCU’s most divisive entries.
And as always, we prove one thing, you can disagree and still have a great conversation.
